An instinctive and patient runner with excellent anticipation, moves, and solid power. Very elusive, and will make nice cuts without missing a step. A skilled receiver. Adds value as a return man.
Doesn't flash top-end speed in the open field. A bit undersized. Had a significant history of off-field troubles in college.

Bernard Scott touches it three times in loss | 12/29/2013 6:21 PM
Bernard Scott rushed for three yards on two carries and caught one pass for eight yards in Week 17 against the Bengals.
Scott got some work in the first half with Ray Rice standing on the sideline nursing a thigh injury. Scott appeared in two games for the Ravens this season, rushing for 14 yards on four attempts and catching two passes for ten yards. He'll be a free agent in March. Scott struggled to find work in 2013. We wouldn't expect that to change this offseason.

Ravens waived RB Bernard Scott.
The move clears a spot for Dennis Pitta's return to the active roster. Scott was signed in Week 8 after being released by the Bengals and has yet to appear in a game this season.
Ravens declared RB Bernard Scott, S Brynden Trawick, S Omar Brown, OL Ryan Jensen, WR Deonte Thompson, DE/OLB John Simon, and NT Brandon Williams inactive for Week 13 against Pittsburgh.

Ravens signed RB Bernard Scott.
Scott slides in as the No. 3 back as the Ravens come out of their bye. He's depth in case Bernard Pierce (hamstring) is limited or can't play against the Browns in Week 9. Ray Rice says he feels as good as he has all season right now.

Bengals place Bernard Scott on reserve/PUP | 08/31/2013 3:11 PM
Bengals placed RB Bernard Scott (ACL surgery) on reserve/PUP.
He'll be stashed as mid-season depth. The Bengals will enter the season with Rex Burkhead and Cedric Peerman behind Giovani Bernard and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Scott tore his ACL last October and has been slow to recover.
Bernard Scott likely to open season on PUP | 08/08/2013 12:53 PM
The Cincinnati Enquirer gives Bengals RB Bernard Scott (ACL surgery) a "good chance" of opening the season on reserve/PUP.
Scott has been slow to recover from a left ACL tear suffered last October. The Bengals could view him as an in-season insurance policy. Under the new PUP rules, teams can activate PUPed players in any timeframe between Weeks 7 and 15, based on when they resume practicing. Scott has not practiced in camp.

Scott is still recovering from last fall's ACL tear. At one time a somewhat promising prospect, his roster chances decreased significantly when the Bengals drafted Gio Bernard in the second round. Scott's dynasty value is gone.
Bernard Scott 'candidate' for active/PUP | 07/10/2013 5:34 PM
Bengals.com considers Bernard Scott (ACL) a candidate to begin training camp on the active/PUP list.
We'd call him likely to begin camp on PUP, though he should be ready for Week 1. Scott tore his left ACL last October. The question is whether Scott will make the Bengals' 53-man roster. Cincy's selection of Giovani Bernard severely dented his chances. Either way, Scott isn't going to make a fantasy impact this season.
Bernard Scott may not make the Bengals | 05/05/2013 5:38 PM
The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy "highly doubts" both Bernard Scott and Giovani Bernard will make the Bengals' 53-man roster.

In other words, Scott's roster spot is in jeopardy. Bernard obviously isn't going anywhere after being the first running back drafted last weekend. The Bengals re-signed Scott, 29, to a one-year deal last month. Cincinnati will likely keep four running backs: BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Bernard, special teams ace Cedric Peerman, and sixth-round pick Rex Burkhead.
Bengals expected to re-sign Bernard Scott | 04/12/2013 3:04 PM
Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com is "hearing" that the team will re-sign free agent Bernard Scott.

Scott visited the Raiders on Wednesday, but left without a deal. He could return to Cincinnati to push Cedric Peerman for change-of-pace duties behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Even if Scott re-signs, the Bengals should not stop seeking backfield speed. Cincy needs more big-play ability at running back.
Bernard Scott set to visit Raiders, Bengals | 04/10/2013 9:51 AM
Free agent RB Bernard Scott (knee) will meet with the Raiders Wednesday and the Bengals later this week.
Now six months removed from his ACL tear, Scott is starting to get some nibbles. He'll go through some drills in Oakland, hoping to prove he's well on his way to 100 percent. The Raiders currently have only Jeremy Stewart and Marcel Reece behind starter Darren McFadden, while the Bengals have been forthright regarding their desire to add a speed element next to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Scott ran a 4.44 forty at the 2009 Combine and has averaged 4.05 yards per carry during his career.
Bernard Scott gets medical clearance | 03/18/2013 6:00 PM
Free agent Bernard Scott (ACL surgery) has received clearance from an orthopedic surgeon to begin cutting and doing "explosive weight training."
Scott tore his left ACL early last October. Doctors say he's "on the right track" in his recovery, but NFL interest in Scott may not pick up until he's ready to go through full workouts for clubs. Scott turned 29 years old in February.
'Difficult' to see Scott back with Bengals | 02/12/2013 7:04 PM
The Cincinnati Enquirer believes it's "difficult" to envision free agent Bernard Scott back with the Bengals unless it's on a one-year deal.
That's true, but it's also true Scott is unlikely to draw any multi-year offers as he recovers from a torn ACL. It doesn't help that he's averaged just 4.1 yards over his first 255 career carries, and is already 28. Four months removed from shredding his knee, Scott will be a candidate to begin 2013 on the reserve/PUP list.
Bengals in search of 'complement' to BJGE | 01/23/2013 9:53 AM
Running backs coach Jim Anderson confirmed the Bengals are looking for a "complement" to BenJarvus Green-Ellis this offseason.
Both Anderson and head coach Marvin Lewis haven't been shy about expressing their desire to add talent to the running back position. Bernard Scott is coming off an ACL tear and entering free agency, so the widely held assumption is that they'll look to the draft. The Bengals' official website suggests the team could use a second-round pick on a prospect such as North Carolina's Giovani Bernard or Oregon's Kenjon Barner. Green-Ellis averaged just 3.93 yards per carry and caught 1.4 passes per game in 2012.
