Jones sprained the AC joint in his shoulder during Notre Dame's bowl game and had the clean-up surgery during Lions minicamp. He'll be sidelined 4-6 weeks. Jones has a reliable pair of hands and could contribute as a slot receiver in year one, though the surgery obviously puts him behind the eight ball.

Lions signed sixth-round WR T.J. Jones to a four-year contract.
Jones is limited from a size and playmaking ability standpoint, but the Lions are desperate for sure-handed weapons, and Jones is a reliable pass catcher. He'll push Ryan Broyles for snaps at slot receiver in year one.
Lions keep looking for weapons, add TJ Jones | 05/10/2014 4:14 PM
Lions selected Notre Dame WR T.J. Jones with the No. 189 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Jones (5-foot-11 5/8, 188) was a four-year starter for the Irish, finishing his career with 181 catches for 2,429 yards (13.4 YPR) and 19 touchdowns. He ran 4.48 at the Combine with a 33-inch vertical and 9-foot-11 broad jump. Jones played Z and slot receiver in college. He exhibits possession skills on tape, and projects as an inside-the-numbers chain mover with limited big-play ability. We probably won't be hearing a ton from him in fantasy despite landing in Detroit's high-powered offensive scheme.
