Very physical and tough in coverage. A converted wideout with a very nice mixture of speed and size. A very good athlete who keeps progressing. Has strong tools in man-to-man assignments, yet also does a great job adjusting in space to make the interception.
Needs to keep adding bulk to his frame to keep playing the physical, feisty style he does over the long haul. Can still use work diagnosing running plays and could make even more tackles than he does.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's MRI indicated he has a sprained left elbow according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.
As expected, Sherman suffered an injury in his left arm. He could move the arm during the second part of the second half, but he played through the injury and plans to do the same versus the Patriots. It will be interesting to see how much Patriots quarterback Tom Brady tests the potentially one-armed Sherman.
Richard Sherman will be on cover of Madden 15 | 06/09/2014 9:02 AM
Richard Sherman will be on the cover of "Madden NFL 15."
Sherman becomes the third defensive player to make the cover, joining Ray Lewis (2005) and Troy Polamalu (2010). He's also the second Seahawk to have the honor, behind Shaun Alexander (2007). The alleged Madden "Curse," which is typically a simple case of natural regression, has been debunked in recent years. Adrian Peterson had a solid campaign last year, and Calvin Johnson blew up for a 122-1,964-5 line when he was on the cover in 2012.
Seahawks make Sherman NFL's highest-paid CB | 05/07/2014 1:48 PM
Seahawks signed LCB Richard Sherman to a four-year, $57.4 million contract extension through the 2018 season.
The deal includes a whopping $40 million guaranteed, blowing the $26 million guaranteed Aqib Talib got from the Broncos to set the new cornerback record out of the water. His $14.35 million annual average on the extension is also the new high-water mark among corners on multi-year deals, besting Brandon Carr's $10.02 million. Sherman has one year left on his rookie deal at $1.389 million for 2014 before the extension kicks in. He'll hit the open market as a 31-year-old. With Sherman's deal out of the way, the Browns and Cardinals can get to working on new deals for Joe Haden and Patrick Peterson, respectively.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Seahawks and LCB Richard Sherman are "finishing up" a lucrative contract extension that will make Sherman the league's highest-paid cornerback.

Via USA Today's Tom Pelissero, the sides aren't very far apart on a "very nice deal." The Seahawks have called for an 11 AM PT press conference, which we would assume is to announce the extension. Sherman expected a deal to get done before or shortly after the draft. The former fifth-round pick out of Stanford should net $10-12 million annually with $25-plus million guaranteed.

A league source tells Profootballtalk that the Seahawks haven't made much progress on LCB Richard Sherman's contract extension.
Profootballtalk on NBCSports
According to PFT's source, getting a deal done before next week's draft is still possible, but "won't be easy" based on both sides current positions. Sherman has one year left on his rookie deal at $1.39 million and is expected to be seeking a contract worth $10-12 million annually.
Seahawks nearing deal with Richard Sherman | 04/28/2014 5:23 PM
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Seahawks are "zeroing in" on a contract extension with LCB Richard Sherman that will make him the "highest paid cornerback in the game."
Jason La Canfora on Twitter
Darrelle Revis only has a one-year deal with New England, but is technically the league's highest paid corner at $12 million. Sherman's forthcoming extension will probably be worth $10-12 million annually. Per La Canfora, Seattle is "hopeful" the Sherman deal will be hammered out before next week's draft.
Report: 'Plenty of work' left for SEA/Sherman | 04/22/2014 4:14 PM
Profootballtalk reports "plenty of work" remains in the Seahawks' long-term talks with LCB Richard Sherman.
Profootballtalk on NBCSports.com
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, "a consensus hasn't been reached on dollars or terms." This doesn't necessarily run contrary to CBS' Tuesday report that the sides have made "considerable progress." The odds are high that Sherman's contract situation is taken care of before Week 1.
Seahawks, CB Sherman nearing long-term deal | 04/22/2014 11:49 AM
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Seahawks and LCB Richard Sherman "have made considerable progress" on a long-term deal that will make Sherman the highest-paid corner in the NFL.
Jason La Canfora on Twitter
The sides are "hopeful" the deal will be completed by the draft, and it's expected to be worth north of $13 million annually. Darrelle Revis is currently the top-paid corner in the league at $12 million for 2014. Aqib Talib sets the bar in terms of guaranteed money with $26 million. Sherman should shatter that. The 2011 fifth-rounder just turned 26 last month and is entering the final year of his deal.
Profootballtalk reports the Seahawks and LCB Richard Sherman have yet to engage in contract extension talks.
Profootballtalk on NBC Sports
Sherman, a fifth-round pick in 2011, became eligible for a new deal on December 29 when his third regular season in the league came to a close. He has one year left on his rookie deal at $1.389 million. Negotiations are expected to take place this spring. It would be surprising if an agreement isn't reached. Sherman will likely become the highest-paid cornerback in the league.

Richard Sherman would have missed a few weeks if he sustained his ankle sprain during the season.
Sherman was diagnosed with a second-degree high ankle sprain following the Super Bowl and will be healed in plenty of time for OTAs in May. Pro Football Focus' No. 6 corner will be angling for a contract extension this offseason. Sherman is set to make just $1.389 million in 2014, the final year of his rookie deal.

The injury didn't appear particularly serious on the field, but Sherman was limping around for much of the second half. We suspect he'll be alright. Sherman put clamps on Eric Decker in the Super Bowl, holding him to one catch for six yards before exiting midway through the fourth frame.

Richard Sherman asked to cover Boldin | 09/16/2013 10:22 AM
Richard Sherman said he asked coach Pete Carroll to shadow Anquan Boldin in Sunday night's Week 2 win over the Niners.
The Seahawks normally just play sides with their corners. But with Brandon Browner (hamstring) sidelined, Sherman took on the challenge of stopping Boldin and humiliated the veteran. Boldin finished with just one catch for seven yards on four targets. Sherman, a first-team All-Pro last season, is clearly the most dominant cover corner in the league this side of Darrelle Revis. Cecil Shorts and all Jaguars will be hands-off fantasy plays in Week 3.
