Mikel Leshoure is skipping voluntary workouts this week.
Leshoure is one of four players not in attendance, including Ndamukong Suh, CB Chris Houston (toe), and WR Carlin Isles (rugby). Leshoure likely wants out of Detroit, as he's no higher than the No. 3 running back and might even be No. 4. GM Martin Mayhew has already stated he doesn't want to deal Leshoure.
Coach Bruce Arians expects DB Tyrann Mathieu (knee) to begin training camp on the PUP list.
"I think Ty is going to up to the wire," Arians said. "I still anticipate him on PUP, but he refuses to believe it. That's a good thing." Mathieu had never even heard of the PUP list before Wednesday. The kid is relentless and is aiming to take the field for day one of training camp. We can't see it happening, however. Being ready for the season opener is much more realistic.
TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports the Patriots are "incredibly high" on Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage.
Some in the New England organization are now referring to Savage as "Tom #2," with Tom Brady being "Tom #1" of course. Savage has been generating a ton of buzz in recent weeks and has even had to turn down workout requests due to a jam-packed schedule. He has a rife for an arm but has his flaws. Savage will need to sit for a couple years. Ryan Mallett will be a free agent next March.
